Left of Black host and Duke University Professor Mark Anthony Neal is joined via Skype by historians Davarian Baldwin (Trinity College) and Minkah Makalani (University of Texas) for a discussion of their new co-edited volume Escape from New York: The New Negro Renaissance Beyond Harlem.

Later Neal is joined, via Skype, by Professor Yaba Blay, to talk about her new book (1)ne Drop: Shifting the Lens on Race. Blay is co-director of the Africana Studies program at Drexel University.
