Left of Black host and Duke University Professor Mark Anthony Neal is joined via Skype© by Eddie Glaude, Jr., the William S. Tod Professor of Religion and African American Studies, Department of Religion, and Chair of the Center for African American Studies at Princeton University. Glaude is the author, most recently, of In a Shade of Blue: Pragmatism and the Politics of Black America (University of Chicago Press). Neal and Glaude discuss the current state of Black Studies and the unique challenges of Black academics in balancing their roles as activists, scholars, and pundits.
Later Neal is joined, also via Skype©, by Sociologist Mignon Moore, author of the new book Invisible Families: Gay Identities, Relationships and Motherhood among Black Women (University of California Press). Moore is associate professor of Sociology at UCLA.
